Lahj authorities condemn Houthi missile strike on school

The local authority in Yemen's Lahj Governorate has issued a statement condemning a missile attack on the Amr ibn al-Aas School in the Al-Mudariyah and Ras al-Ara district. According to local officials, the Houthi militia targeted the facility in the Amlabiya area with two ballistic missiles.

The school was serving as a shelter for dozens of displaced families seeking safety. The attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of three civilians and left four others injured, some in critical condition. The strike occurred in a populated area approximately 2.5 kilometers away from the front lines.

In response, the Lahj local authority has held the Houthi militia fully responsible for the incident and called upon the United Nations, the Office of the Special Envoy, and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to document the attack for future international legal accountability. They also urged the international community to provide urgent protection and medical assistance for civilians and displaced persons in the region.
