Lahj emergency cell and IRC discuss health aid for displaced persons

The emergency cell in Lahj governorate met with representatives from the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to discuss urgent health interventions for displaced persons in the Ras al-Ara and Tuban districts. The discussions focused on deploying mobile medical units to address escalating health challenges faced by populations displaced by ongoing conflict.

Dr. Khalid al-Jaber, Director General of the Public Health and Population Office, emphasized that the health situation for displaced persons requires an urgent response and increased cooperation between local authorities and international organizations. The continuous displacement has placed significant strain on the health sector, particularly in conflict-affected areas such as Ras al-Ara, Al-Mudharaba, and Al-Hadd Yafa, as well as in Tuban.

Omar al-Samati, head of the Executive Unit for IDP Camp Management in Lahj, highlighted the humanitarian suffering in the camps and stressed the need for qualitative interventions. The meeting concluded with an agreement to develop an executive action plan to ensure mobile medical units can reach remote camp locations to provide essential medicines and treatment.
