Lahj Governor seeks urgent ICRC humanitarian aid for conflict zones

The Governor of Lahj, Murad al-Halimi, met with a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), led by Mira Kedir, to discuss expanding urgent humanitarian and relief interventions in the province.

Discussions focused on addressing the exceptional challenges caused by increasing displacement and the worsening humanitarian conditions resulting from ongoing conflict and attacks. Governor al-Halimi called on the international community, humanitarian organizations, and donors to fulfill their responsibilities and provide comprehensive support to alleviate the suffering of both local residents and displaced populations.

The Governor specifically requested that field interventions be directed toward contact zones and villages adjacent to active front lines, as these areas are the most deprived of basic services due to direct targeting and war conditions. The ICRC delegation expressed readiness to expand its response to include conflict and contact areas that have not yet been reached by humanitarian organizations, building on previous successful interventions in the Al-Hadd, Al-Kursh, and Tawur al-Baha districts.
