Lahore air pollution reaches high levels as AQI hits 204
Lahore has recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 204, positioning it among the world’s most polluted major cities. Specific areas within the city reported even higher levels, including Paragon City at 271, Barki Road at 227, and Iqbal Town at 206. Health and environmental experts have advised residents, particularly those sensitive to poor air quality, to limit prolonged outdoor exposure.
Simultaneously, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert for the period of September 25 to 30. A westerly weather system is expected to bring thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and potential flash flooding to several northern regions of Pakistan, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Islamabad. Vulnerable areas identified for flooding risks include Astore, Skardu, and Neelum Valley.
