Lahore faces thunderstorms and rain relief amid early June heatwave
The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority warned of thunderstorms, heavy rain and hail across Lahore and surrounding districts from June 11‑13, urging residents to avoid open areas, protect crops and stay prepared for strong winds. PDMA Director General Umar Javaid called for precautionary measures and alerted local officials.
Later that week, rain arrived in Lahore, cooling temperatures after a severe dust storm. The downpour brought welcome relief but triggered power outages as several electricity feeders tripped, affecting residential and commercial neighborhoods such as Defence, Gulberg and Walton. Authorities continued to monitor the weather, advising caution on wet roads and expecting further rain on the following day.
