Lahore High Court grants relief to Rimsha Iqbal in legal dispute

The Lahore High Court has set aside a decision that directed the registration of a criminal case against Rimsha Iqbal, a lawyer and sister of actress Momina Iqbal. Justice Abher Gul accepted the petition challenging an earlier order from a sessions court.

The legal dispute involves Saqib Chadhar, a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA, and allegations regarding Rs 8 million deposited into Rimsha’s bank account. Counsel for Chadhar argued the funds were deposited to assist Rimsha in showing sufficient balance for overseas travel, characterizing the money as entrusted funds rather than a loan. The court also noted previous personal ties between Chadhar and Momina Iqbal.

Rimsha maintained that the funds in question had already been withdrawn from her account in 2022. The ruling concludes several months of litigation involving the parties and the Bhowana police in the Chiniot district.
