Lahore traffic police implement new fine targets and enforcement measures

Lahore traffic police have initiated a crackdown to increase enforcement against motorists following a reported decline in traffic violations compared to the previous year. Chief Traffic Officer Abdul Rahim Shirazi has issued new fine targets to traffic wardens, providing a 15-day deadline to meet these quotas. Officials who fail to reach the assigned targets may face departmental action.

The enforcement drive will specifically target unlicensed drivers, underage motorists, vehicles lacking fitness certificates, and smoke-emitting vehicles.

In addition to issuing new fines, authorities are seeking stricter measures to recover unpaid e-challans. CTO Shirazi has proposed a plan to the DIG Traffic Punjab and the Punjab Information Technology Board to link the clearance of outstanding traffic fines with access to certain government services. If implemented, motorists would be required to settle pending dues before accessing these services.
