Lahore woman injured jumping from motorcycle to escape alleged harassment

A woman sustained serious injuries after jumping from a moving ride-hailing motorcycle in the Johar Town area of Lahore to escape alleged sexual harassment. According to a First Information Report (FIR) lodged by the victim's brother, the rider, identified as Naeem, reportedly harassed the woman throughout the journey, making lewd demands and attempting to touch her without consent.

The victim suffered injuries to her head, nose, neck, and knee. Due to the severity of her head injury, she required admission to the intensive care unit at Jinnah Hospital. The rider, operating a red Honda CD 70, allegedly fled the scene following the incident. The Nawab Town Police Station has registered a case against the accused under Section 354 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The incident has renewed concerns regarding the safety of women using app-based transport services. In response to similar safety issues, the Punjab government recently introduced QR-code panic buttons in approximately 82,000 rickshaws, cabs, and public transport vehicles to allow passengers to request emergency assistance.
