LAHSA operates homelessness mission from luxury Los Angeles tower

The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), the public agency responsible for coordinating the city and county’s response to the homelessness crisis, is operating out of a luxury high-rise in downtown Los Angeles. LAHSA is headquartered on the 10th floor of the AON Tower, a 62-story Class A skyscraper.

The building offers high-end amenities to its tenants, including a fitness center located in a former bank vault that features an infrared sauna and a cold plunge. Other available services include valet parking, car washes, electric vehicle charging stations, and access to chauffeur-driven Mercedes-Maybach and Cadillac Escalade vehicles. The tower also features a helipad providing discounted flights to LAX.

This office arrangement comes as LAHSA faces significant budget reductions, with its funding projected to drop by 40% from $829 million to $496 million for the 2026-27 period. The agency is funded by the City of Los Angeles, as well as county, state, and federal taxpayer dollars. Some building tenants have expressed that the upscale setting is “odd” for a taxpayer-funded agency tasked with managing shelters and housing programs.
