Lahti football fan brawl leads to dozens arrests

On Saturday dozens of supporters of FC Lahti and HJK fought a mass brawl in the centre of Lahti, near Paasikiven square, as the teams prepared to meet later that day. Police say many participants were masked, threw chairs and other objects, set off pyrotechnic flares and broke a pub window.

Police detained roughly 30 individuals, moving many to police vans and a city bus for transport. Investigators have so far reported no serious injuries and are charging the arrested fans with assault, illegal masking and possession of pyrotechnic devices. The incident is under ongoing investigation.
