Lai Chau to hold 2026 “Bước chân trên mây” race on historic Pavi stone road

The third edition of the "Bước chân trên mây" mountain‑running competition will take place on 4 October 2026 in the Sin Suối Hồ commune of Lai Châu Province, Vietnam. Organized by Báo Pháp luật Việt Nam together with the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the event expands to include athletes from across the country and features three race distances: a 5 km course for local participants, an 11 km course for amateur runners nationwide, and a 22 km course split between a journalist category and an open category for groups and individuals.

All races will be run on the historic Pavi stone road, a French‑built early‑20th‑century route that links Lai Châu with Sa Pa and is officially recognised as a cultural heritage site. Organiser Dr Vũ Hoài Nam said the competition aims to combine sport with the promotion of the region’s natural scenery, cultural diversity of the Mông, Dao and Hà Nhì peoples, and sustainable tourism, turning athletes into ambassadors for Lai Châu’s heritage.
