Lai Chau hosts mountain climbing race on Pa Vi ancient stone road

Approximately 500 athletes, including 100 journalists from various national news agencies, participated in the ‘Steps on the Clouds: Conquering the Pa Vi Ancient Stone Road’ climbing competition in Lai Chau province. Organized by the Lai Chau Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Vietnam Law Newspaper, the event took place on October 4, 2026, in Sin Suoi Ho commune.

Participants competed across three distances: 5km, 11km, and 22km, with the longest route specifically designated for journalists. The race utilized the Pa Vi ancient stone road, a historical route built during the French colonial period to connect Lai Chau with Sa Pa. The event aimed to combine sports with tourism, promoting the natural beauty, ethnic culture, and local agricultural products of the Sin Suoi Ho region to a wider audience.
