Lai Chau police penalize prank calls to 113 emergency hotline

The Lai Chau Provincial Police have taken action against individuals for repeatedly harassing the 113 emergency hotline with prank calls and insults directed at duty officers.

Authorities identified two cases in Nam Ma and Sin Suoi Ho communes, resulting in fines totaling 7 million VND. In three additional cases involving children in Tua Sin Chai, Le Loi, and Than Uyen, police summoned parents to provide guarantees and sign written commitments to prevent future incidents.

Under Decree 282/2025/ND-CP, harassing emergency numbers such as 111, 113, 114, and 115 carries fines of 3 to 4 million VND per individual. Police officials have urged the public to use the hotline strictly for emergencies, noting that occupying the line prevents others from receiving life-saving assistance.
