Lai Jui-lung forms pet industry support group in Kaohsiung

Lai Jui-lung, a candidate for Kaohsiung Mayor, has officially established the "Kaohsiung City Veterinarians and Pet Business Industry Association Support Group." The move is intended to leverage the growing "pet economy" in Kaohsiung, where dog and cat registrations rank second and third in Taiwan, respectively.

Lai proposed a "Four Has" policy to drive industry growth: establishing pet-friendly environments (parks and public spaces), hosting international pet exhibitions and forums, building a global brand for Kaohsiung's pet economy, and developing a professional talent pipeline through collaboration with vocational and higher education institutions.

The initiative is supported by Feng Tsung-hung, Chairman of the Kaohsiung City Veterinarians Association, and Su Wen-sheng, Chairman of the Kaohsiung Pet Business Association. They noted that changing family structures have increased the demand for professional pet medical and care services.
