Lai Van Sam reflects on early career in sports broadcasting

Veteran television presenter Lai Van Sam has shared insights into his early career, which was deeply rooted in sports and football. Before becoming a well-known host for programs such as “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” he began his tenure at Vietnam Television (VTV) in 1987 within the Sports Department.

His initial roles involved translating sports news from Russian to Vietnamese, eventually progressing to editing and commentary. Notably, he contributed to evolving broadcasting styles by proposing the use of dual commentators instead of a single announcer. Beyond his professional contributions, Lai Van Sam is a dedicated supporter of the English football club Liverpool.
