LAIKA Studios' Wildwood receives perfect critical reviews

LAIKA Studios' new stop-motion animated feature, Wildwood, has debuted to perfect critical acclaim following its premiere at the BFI London Film Festival. The film currently holds a 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with some critics describing it as a masterpiece and a potential Oscar contender for 2027.

Based on the young adult novel by Colin Meloy and illustrated by Carson Ellis, the film follows Prue McKeel as she ventures into a magical forest near Portland, Oregon, to rescue her kidnapped brother. The production is noted for its immense scale, taking approximately 15 to 16 years to develop, and it holds the distinction of being the longest stop-motion animated film ever produced.

Directed by Travis Knight, the film features a voice cast including Keir Maligan, Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, Awkwafina, Jacob Tremblay, Charlie Day, Richard E. Grant, and Jemaine Clement.
