LAIKA unveils trailer for Wildwood stop-motion film

LAIKA has released the first trailer for Wildwood, the studio’s most ambitious stop-motion animated feature to date. Directed and produced by Travis Knight and written by Chris Butler, the film is based on the novel by Colin Meloy.

Set near Portland, Oregon, the story follows Prue McKeel, a teenager who enters a hidden, mystical forest known as the Impassable Wilderness to rescue her younger brother after he is abducted by crows. Accompanied by her classmate Curtis Mehlberg, Prue encounters a world of talking animals, ancient powers, and warring factions.

The film features a voice cast including Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, Awkwafina, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, and Amandla Stenberg. Wildwood is scheduled to arrive in theaters in late October 2026.
