Laiki Sysepirosi demands flood protection for Evros

The regional political group Laiki Sysepirosi in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace has submitted a formal inquiry to the Regional Governor and the President of the Regional Council regarding flood protection in the Evros region.

The group highlights that following floods earlier this year, which affected over 150,000 stremmata—including approximately 85,000 stremmata of arable land—the restoration of damaged embankments remains incomplete. The inquiry calls for a comprehensive flood defense plan, specific timelines for infrastructure projects, and clarity on funding to protect local farmers and residents from recurring water management issues in the Evros catchment area.
