Laine Hardy remains Louisiana's only American Idol winner

Laine Hardy remains the only singer from Louisiana to win American Idol, having secured the title during the show's 17th season in 2019.

Other Louisiana residents have achieved notable success on reality singing competitions, particularly on The Voice. Notable participants include Karen Waldrup, who placed 5th in 2024, and Dustin Dale Gaspard, who was a runner-up in 2019. Other finalists and top-ten performers from the state include Meghan Linsey, Dez Duron, Damien Lawson, Rob Taylor, Hunter Plake, and Max Chambers.

Additionally, the 13th anniversary of Cole Vosbury’s appearance on The Voice is being noted. Vosbury, who performed the theme from ‘The Jeffersons’ during his 2013 audition, originally joined Team CeeLo.
