Lajos Kósa claims arrests of former ministers are political distractions
Lajos Kósa, the Fidesz president for Debrecen, has characterized the recent arrests and detentions of former government ministers as a “spectacle” intended to distract the public from the current administration's failures.
Speaking in an interview, Kósa addressed the detention of three former ministers from previous Orbán administrations. He suggested that the Tisza government is using these legal proceedings to divert attention from unfulfilled election promises and a controversial budget presented to Parliament. While Kósa dismissed the moves as political maneuvers, he noted that he does not believe these actions will prevent former government officials from being held accountable for their actions.
Recent reports have highlighted legal proceedings involving former officials, including former Culture and Innovation Minister Balázs Hankó, former National Development Minister Miklós Seszták, and former Central Bank Governor György Matolcsy. Kósa predicted that further arrests of former ruling party politicians could follow.
