Lajosmizs: TEK conducts operation to apprehend armed man

Specialized police units, including the Counter Terrorism Centre (TEK), conducted an operation in Lajosmizs, Bács-Kiskun county, after a man reportedly threatened his family with a weapon. The incident began when authorities received reports of a man behaving erratically with an object resembling a firearm before barricading himself inside a residence.

Law enforcement deployed armored vehicles, several police cars, a robot dog, and a hostage negotiator to the scene. During the standoff, a negotiator worked to convince the man to leave the building. The suspect was eventually apprehended and handcuffed without any injuries reported to bystanders or officers.

Upon searching the residence, police discovered an unlicensed gas alarm weapon. The individual was taken to a hospital as a security measure. The operation resulted in the temporary closure of Bartók Béla Street while the situation was resolved.
