Lakambini Chiu arrested over 124 counts of qualified theft

Lakambini “Lakam” Chiu, the elder sister of actress Kim Chiu, was arrested in Mandaluyong City on Sunday, September 20, 2026, following a warrant issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court. She faces 124 counts of qualified theft involving House of Little Bunny Philippines, Inc. (HOLB), a handbag brand co-founded by the sisters.

The charges stem from alleged financial irregularities totaling approximately P44.4 million in corporate funds. Kim Chiu, the company’s president and majority stockholder, reportedly flagged unusually large withdrawals in mid-2025, leading to the legal dispute. The court has recommended a bail amount of P5.838 million.

Through legal counsel, Lakam Chiu’s camp expressed sadness regarding the decision to pursue the complaint but stated she remains hopeful for an amicable resolution within the family. She has indicated her intention to address the allegations through the proper legal channels.
