Lake Babine Nation receives paintings by artist Robert Abraham Jr

The Lakes District Museum Society has presented five paintings by the late artist Robert Abraham Jr. to the Lake Babine Nation’s Education Department. The exchange, which took place in Burns Lake on July 23, follows a large donation of Abraham’s work to the museum society.

Because the museum society could not accommodate the additional pieces due to space limitations, the paintings were offered to the public by donation. The artworks have now been repatriated to the Lake Babine Nation, which is Abraham’s ancestral First Nation. The paintings will be displayed within community-based school settings operated by the Nation to inspire younger generations.

In recognition of the museum's role in preserving regional history, the Lake Babine Nation’s Education Department provided a cash donation to the society.
