Lake Como to host itinerant nautical history exhibition

The “Centomiglia Stories Experience,” an itinerant exhibition promoted by the Yacht Club Como, will travel across five municipalities on Lake Como from September 5 to October 4, 2026. The project aims to recount the two-thousand-year history of navigation on the lake, connecting its maritime traditions with future themes of sustainability, environmental protection, and safety.

The exhibition will visit Cremia, Cernobbio, Tremezzina, Nesso, and Torno. The first section, curated by Emanuele Seghetti of the Museo della Barca Lariana, traces navigation from the Roman era through the development of major boatyards and famous names like Riva, Abbate, and Cranchi.

The second section, curated by journalist Gianfranco Casnati, focuses on the history of the Centomiglia del Lario. It covers the race's evolution from the post-war period to modern challenges, highlighting significant moments such as the 1986 feat by Stefano Casiraghi. The exhibition serves as a countdown to the 77th edition of the Centomiglia del Lario, scheduled for October 10 and 11, 2026.
