Lake Como tourist dies after diving near Nesso

A young tourist died on Thursday morning, September 3, after diving into Lake Como near Nesso, Italy. The incident occurred in the hamlet of Careno while the man was swimming with his partner.

The victim's partner raised the alarm after witnessing him suddenly submerge and fail to resurface. This triggered an extensive search and rescue operation involving the Coast Guard's Third Nucleus Unit of Lake Como, the Vigili del Fuoco, and Carabinieri.

Specialized divers from Milan were deployed via helicopter to assist in the deep-water search. Following a morning of surface and underwater patrols between Nesso and Careno, divers located the man's body near the site where he was last seen.
