Lake Constance cycling route spans Germany, Austria, and Switzerland
The Bodensee-Radweg offers a cycling loop of approximately 250 to 260 kilometers around Lake Constance, traversing Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The route is characterized by relatively flat terrain with minimal elevation gain, making it accessible for various skill levels. More than half of the path consists of dedicated cycling lanes.
Key landmarks along the route include the UNESCO World Heritage monastery on Reichenau Island, the floral landscapes of Mainau Island, and prehistoric pile dwellings in Unteruhldingen. Travelers can visit the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen, the island city of Lindau, and the medieval architecture of Stein am Rhein. The route also passes through Bregenz, where the Rhine flows into the lake, and various Swiss lakeside villages.
Logistical options for travelers include ferries connecting Constance to Meersburg and Friedrichshafen to Romanshorn, as well as regional train services along the shores to facilitate easier travel between destinations.
