Lake Constance faces historic low water levels
Lake Constance is facing historically low water levels. In Konstanz, the water level was recorded at 248 centimeters, which is more than one meter below the long-term average for early October.
The total water deficit is estimated at approximately 568 billion liters, though this represents about 1.2 percent of the lake's total volume. The low water levels have resulted in boats sitting on dry lake beds in certain areas, such as the Untersee.
Despite the environmental situation, the region remains a destination for autumn tourism. Activities in the area include vineyard tours and wine tastings in locations like Hagnau, Meersburg, and Immenstaad, as well as hiking in the surrounding mountains such as the Pfänder in Vorarlberg.
