Lake Cowichan historical news retrospective

A retrospective of news from the Cowichan Lake area highlights local stories from a decade ago. One notable report from the Lake Cowichan Gazette featured Councillor Bob Day advocating for in-vessel composting. Day argued against exporting organic waste, suggesting that the community could benefit from processing food refuse, yard clippings, and wood chips locally using insulated, rotating cylindrical containers.

Additionally, the Lake Cowichan Animal Rescue Society (LCARS) celebrated its tenth anniversary. The organization held a special event including a barbecue and live auction to recognize the volunteers who have supported the society over the past decade.
