Italy tourism industry focuses on innovation and 2027 trends

The Italian tourism and hospitality sectors are preparing for major industry events, including the TTG Travel Experience in Rimini from October 14 to 16. Organized by the Italian Exhibition Group, the event will focus on Mediterranean trends and future trajectories for 2027. Data from Nexi indicates that foreign tourist spending in Italy reached 16.2 billion euros in the first eight months of 2026, a 5% increase compared to 2025.

Key emerging trends discussed include the “beach wedding” market, which accounted for 38.7% of the global destination wedding market in 2025, and the rise of the “Zero Click Economy.” Research from Politecnico di Milano and Confturismo-SWG highlights shifting consumer behaviors, such as Italians splitting holidays into multiple periods and a preference for short stays.

In addition to the Rimini event, the Lake Garda Hospitality Summit will take place on October 22 in Peschiera del Garda. This summit focuses on “Tourism 5.0,” emphasizing the integration of data analysis and technological innovation with human capital and sustainability. Meanwhile, industry representatives like Fiavet-Confcommercio are addressing regulatory challenges, such as the Package Travel Directive and managing business during periods of geopolitical and economic instability.
