Lake Garda tourism sees strong growth in 2026 summer season

The 2026 summer tourism season at Lake Garda has shown significant growth and high occupancy rates. In the Veneto region, accommodation occupancy reached 85 percent in July, with camping sites also reporting full bookings. German tourists remain a primary demographic, accounting for approximately 40 percent of visitors in the Lake Garda area and 30-35 percent of foreign arrivals in Lonato del Garda.

In Lonato del Garda, the municipality reported a 9 percent increase in arrivals and a 5 percent increase in total tourist presence compared to 2025. While the season saw record-breaking numbers, some local business owners have noted challenges regarding profit margins despite high occupancy. The visitor base is diversifying, with increasing numbers of tourists arriving from the United Kingdom, the United States, and Brazil.
