Lake Macquarie City Council seeks state funding for Lyall Peacock Field
Lake Macquarie City Council is prioritizing the redevelopment of Lyall Peacock Field in Toronto to modernize aging sports infrastructure. The facility, which serves as the home for the Macquarie Scorpions and the Toronto Awaba Stags, currently features grandstands and change rooms built in 1962 that are considered unsuitable for modern sports.
Mayor Adam Shultz indicated that the council intends to seek funding from both state and federal governments to support the project. The redevelopment is part of a broader master plan for the Toronto Sports Ground precinct, which includes Peacock Field as well as Toronto No. 2 and No. 3. A lighting upgrade is currently out to tender and is expected to be operational for the 2027 football seasons.
