Lake Tota legislative project holds first public hearing in Aquitania

The first of three territorial public hearings was held in Aquitania, Boyacá, regarding a legislative project to recognize Lake Tota as a subject of rights. The initiative, presented by Representative José Luis Bohórquez, aims to strengthen the protection and conservation of the lake through institutional and community coordination.

During the session, local residents, producers, organizations, and authorities shared concerns and recommendations. Bohórquez stated that the goal is to protect the lake from future mining activities and ensure its preservation. The second hearing is scheduled to take place in Sogamoso on September 24 to continue gathering input from various sectors before the project moves to its first debate in the Congress of the Republic.
