Lake Trasimeno navigation suspended due to low water levels
Due to critically low water levels at Lake Trasimeno, the navigation route between Castiglione del Lago and Isola Maggiore has been suspended as of August 31. The lake's hydrometric level has dropped to below -194 centimeters, making it impossible to ensure safe navigation and docking on that specific stretch.
To mitigate the impact on residents, businesses, and tourists, the Umbria Region has implemented several contingency measures. Connections to Isola Maggiore will remain available via the Tuoro sul Trasimeno and Passignano sul Trasimeno routes. Additionally, high-season service schedules will be maintained until September 13.
To assist travelers departing from Castiglione del Lago, the region has activated a free shuttle bus service between Castiglione del Lago and Tuoro sul Trasimeno, operating in both directions to facilitate access to the remaining boat connections.
