Lake Van authorities implement safety and cleaning measures

As summer tourism increases around Lake Van, local authorities are focusing on both public safety and environmental preservation. To address drowning risks, experts are calling for increased lifeguard presence at crowded beaches and better signage in prohibited or uncontrolled swimming areas. While approximately 500 lifeguards are trained annually in the region, officials emphasize the need for strategic deployment of personnel and rescue equipment in high-density zones.

Simultaneously, approximately 240 personnel from the Van Environmental Protection and Control Department are conducting cleaning and landscaping operations along the shores and camping areas, particularly in the Edremit district. Despite these efforts, officials have noted significant waste accumulation in certain areas and are urging citizens to be more environmentally conscious to protect the lake's natural beauty and its importance to the local economy.
