Lake Victoria Gold Launches Phase 3 Land Compensation for Imwelo Gold Project in Tanzania

Lake Victoria Gold Ltd. announced that its Tanzanian subsidiary, Tembo Gold Ltd., will begin a Phase 3 land valuation and compensation programme for the fully permitted Imwelo Gold Project in Chato District, Geita Region, on 1 August 2026. The third phase adds roughly 73 acres to the project footprint, providing space for accommodation camps, workshops and other mine infrastructure required for construction readiness.

The programme will involve about 60 Project‑Affected Persons in Imwelo A Hamlet. It follows Phase 1 (268 acres in 2019) and Phase 2 (185 acres in 2023), bringing total land secured to approximately 526 acres. The valuation and compensation process has been approved by Chato District authorities and will be carried out by government‑accredited valuers under Tanzanian land and valuation law, with community sensitisation meetings before payments are made. The initiative is part of Lake Victoria Gold’s staged approach to prepare the site for future mine development.
