Lake View Bereavement Centre opens in East Cambridgeshire

The Lake View Bereavement Centre in Mepal has officially opened, providing a new crematorium and bereavement facility for East Cambridgeshire. The £13 million project was inaugurated by Julie Spence, the Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, in a ceremony attended by approximately 200 guests.

The facility is located on the site of the former Mepal Outdoor Centre, which had previously fallen into disrepair and faced issues with anti-social behaviour. Project leader Cllr Anna Bailey noted that the new centre is designed to be environmentally friendly, utilizing the site’s status as a recognised county nature reserve. The centre includes a chapel capable of hosting up to 200 people.
