Lake Yojoa search continues for four missing Nicaraguan tourists

Search and rescue operations are underway at Lake Yojoa in Honduras to locate four Nicaraguan tourists reported missing. The incident reportedly occurred after a boat carrying the group capsized due to adverse weather conditions on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency response teams, including the Honduran Fire Department, the Red Cross, the Armed Forces, the National Police, and the Directorate of Police Investigations (DPI), have deployed boats and aerial support, including a police helicopter, to scan the lake.

Despite intensive efforts, rescuers have not yet found physical evidence of a shipwreck, such as abandoned clothing or personal items. Additionally, investigations at a local hotel mentioned in initial reports did not show the four individuals in their guest registry, nor was there evidence they had departed from that specific location via boat. Authorities have urged local operators and residents to exercise extreme caution due to highly variable weather conditions in the northern region.
