Papanotas expressed that he does not personally agree with the designer's appearances, noting that some outfits are so unconventional they provoke laughter. He specifically questioned the common phrase used to describe such styles—that the wearer ‘supports’ the look—mockingly asking if there is something underneath holding the clothing in place.

Gavalas responded via a Facebook post, using sharp language to address Papanotas’s remarks. He reiterated that he does indeed ‘support’ his looks with his own physical attributes, directly referencing the journalist's provocative comments about what lies beneath the clothing.
