LaLiga blocks Dani Carvajal transfer to Getafe CF

The potential transfer of former Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal to Getafe CF has been blocked by LaLiga due to financial fair play regulations. Although the player and the club had reached a personal agreement and Carvajal had reportedly passed his medical examination, the league refused to register the contract.

LaLiga’s Economic Control Committee determined that the proposed salary was significantly lower than the player’s market value, career trajectory, and previous earnings. Under current regulations, the league uses these metrics to prevent clubs from taking excessive financial risks, effectively setting a minimum valuation that Getafe’s offer did not meet.

Getafe president Ángel Torres indicated that while the deal is currently off the table, the club intends to resume negotiations with LaLiga on Monday to find a solution. Some reports suggest additional complications, including a potential clause requested by Carvajal regarding a mid-season departure, though the primary obstacle remains the league's salary assessment.
