LaLiga launches Tech Powerhouse 2026 AI observatory for football
LaLiga has published Tech Powerhouse 2026, an annual observatory on technology, artificial intelligence and innovation applied to football, produced together with the sports‑strategy consultancy 380AMK. The study draws on more than 50 sector and economic reports, in‑depth interviews with 22 experts and benchmarking of leading European leagues. It assesses the technologies expected to transform the sport over the next decade and the organisational capabilities required, such as hybrid professional profiles.
The launch builds on a decade of LaLiga’s own technological investment, during which the league has created proprietary solutions, promoted data sharing among clubs, built a research ecosystem and embedded AI in its internal processes. President Javier Tebas said AI has become a strategic capacity for growth and value creation, and that LaLiga now aims to contribute an objective view of the major changes ahead. The observatory highlights trends including the rise of agentic AI within organisations, growing emphasis on technological sovereignty and data control, and the development of digital twins for performance optimisation and operational assistance.
