Lalla Asma University inaugurated in Rabat as world's first inclusive institution

Princess Lalla Asma has inaugurated Lalla Asma University in Rabat, which is described as the world’s first inclusive university. The institution is designed to bring together deaf and hard-of-hearing students with those who have normal hearing to study together in the same classrooms.

The university offers free academic programs in hearing sciences through four schools providing 16 different diplomas, ranging from vocational training to Master's degrees. It aims to train future therapists, translators, engineers, and entrepreneurs. The facility has a capacity of 3,500 seats, and a student dormitory is planned to open in 2027.

To establish its standing in global hearing sciences, the Lalla Asma Foundation signed five cooperation agreements. Key partners include the Reconnect University Hospital Center in Paris—which includes the Institut Pasteur and several Parisian hospitals—as well as academic and medical institutions from Chicago, Louvain, and Montpellier.
