Lalín inaugurates street named after journalist Fernando Ónega

The municipality of Lalín has inaugurated a street named in honor of the late journalist and writer Fernando Ónega. The ceremony was attended by Ónega’s widow, Ángela Rodrigo, his children, and local officials, including Mayor José Crespo and the Counselor of Education, Román Rodríguez.

During the event, Mayor Crespo described Ónega as a “free ambassador” for Lalín in Madrid for many decades. In addition to the street naming, the municipal library has established a dedicated room and houses part of Ónega’s private collection, following a donation of funds and materials by his family.

Ónega, who was an adopted son of Lalín and a former herald of the Feira do Cocido, was recognized for his significant contributions to journalism and his deep connection to the region.
