Lam Dong authorities relocate 22 households due to landslide risks

Authorities in Lam Dong province have declared an emergency situation due to severe landslide risks in the K’No 5 residential area within Dam Rong 4 commune. Following continuous heavy rainfall, land subsidence and landslides have threatened numerous homes, with some structures already partially destroyed or sitting precariously near the edges of sliding earth.

To ensure safety, local officials have completed the relocation of 22 households, totaling 125 residents, across two phases. The first phase occurred in late August, and the second phase involved moving 11 households (68 people) from Area B on September 23.

The landslide risk is driven by a high hill approximately 30-50 meters tall, 500 meters long, and 50 meters wide located behind the residential area. Local authorities have installed warning signs and barriers to prevent displaced residents from returning to the danger zones. The commune has requested approximately 1.3 billion VND in funding to support the displaced families during a projected 120-day relocation period.
