Lam Dong flash flood kills one camper near Dong Mang spillway
A sudden flash flood from upstream at the Dong Mang spillway in Hai Ninh Commune, Lam Dong Province, swept away two members of a five-person camping group on October 4.
The flood occurred while the group was camping near the spillway. Rescue teams, including local military and police forces, managed to locate a 13-year-old victim, T. N. Q., during the night; the individual was found caught in a tree and is reported to be in stable condition.
Following a search operation that continued into the morning of October 5, authorities recovered the body of 24-year-old Pham Ngoc Tam Linh, located approximately 500 meters from the spillway. Local officials noted that heavy rainfall in the upstream forest areas has caused strong water surges in downstream areas, with some reservoirs requiring water discharge to ensure structural safety.
