Lam Dong police arrest cafe manager for assault

The Lam Dong Provincial Police have arrested and prosecuted Nguyen Van Quan, a manager of the Sunny Garden cafe, in connection with an assault and public disorder incident that occurred on May 8, 2026, in Quang Son Commune.

The incident began following a dispute between Nguyen Tien Dat and an individual identified as Tung regarding the leveling of a dirt road. When Dat arrived at the cafe to confront Tung, Quan, who was managing the establishment, reportedly brought a modified gardening machete to the scene.

During a physical altercation, Quan used the weapon to injure Dat, causing a 3% bodily injury to the victim's nose. Forensic examination determined that the tool used was a self-made, modified knife classified as a high-lethality weapon under Ministry of Public Security regulations. Under local law, such weapons used to violate the life or health of others are categorized as military-grade weapons.
