Lam Research posts $2 bn service revenue while Aixtron's orders surge on AI demand
Lam Research reported a record $2 billion service‑segment revenue for the latest quarter, driven by strong demand for equipment that supports AI data‑center chips. The company expects continued earnings growth through 2027, with analysts forecasting $1.68 EPS for the upcoming quarter and annual EPS of $5.68 for 2026. The stock has recently slipped but remains well above its 50‑day average.
Aixtron, a German supplier of coating equipment for laser chips used in AI data‑center optical connections, logged €171.4 million of order intake in Q1 2026, about 70 % of which came from optoelectronics. Despite the order boom, quarterly revenue fell to €59.4 million as deliveries are scheduled for later in the year. The firm maintains a 2026 revenue outlook of €560 million, with earnings to be clarified in its half‑year report due 30 July.
Both companies illustrate how the accelerating AI boom is spurring demand for specialized semiconductor manufacturing tools and services.
