Lambda Legal Raises Record $571,327 at Fire Island Fundraiser

Lambda Legal’s annual "in the Pines" fundraiser was held on July 25 at the ocean‑front home of James Dale and David Lam in Fire Island Pines. The event, hosted at the historic Normal Heart house featured on Ryan Murphy’s HBO adaptation, attracted hundreds of attendees and was emceed by former board members Todd Sears and Andrew Mitchell‑Nadár, along with current board member James Dale. Legendary DJ Morabito provided entertainment.

The 48th‑year fundraiser raised a historic $571,327, surpassing the previous record of over $500,000 and setting a new benchmark for the nation’s longest‑running LGBTQ+ fundraising tradition. Proceeds support Lambda Legal’s nationwide litigation, education, and public‑policy work defending the civil rights of LGBTQ+ people and individuals living with HIV, a cause that remains under heightened legal and political scrutiny across the United States.
