Lambertville and New Hope see high Labor Day weekend crowds

Lambertville, New Jersey, and New Hope, Pennsylvania, experienced high visitor volumes during the Labor Day weekend. The towns saw significant activity in local boutiques, art galleries, thrift shops, and restaurants.

The historic steel bridge connecting the two towns, a 1,053-foot Pratt through-truss, remains a central landmark. Built in 1904 by Lewis F. Shoemaker & Co. using steel from the Cambria Steel Company, the structure replaced previous bridges destroyed by flooding in 1841 and 1903. The current bridge was formally dedicated on Labor Day weekend in 1904.
