Lamborghini celebrates 60 years of the 400 GT and Miura legacy

Lamborghini is marking the 60th anniversary of the 400 GT, the brand’s first true 2+2 Gran Turismo. Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1966, the 400 GT evolved from the 350 GT, featuring a nearly four-liter V12 engine producing 320 CV and an internally developed five-speed manual transmission.

The 400 GT offered increased versatility through a revised body providing more headroom for rear passengers and a larger luggage compartment. The model gained international fame, appearing in films and being associated with high society, including a notable appearance in London during the Beatles’ final public performance in 1969.

This era also saw the development of the Miura, recognized as the first supercar. Originating from the TP400 chassis shown in Turin in 1965, the Miura utilized a revolutionary transverse rear-mounted V12 layout designed by Gian Paolo Dallara and Paolo Stanzani. With styling by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, the Miura became an icon of Italian automotive design.
