Lamborghini Miura SV Marks 55th Anniversary, Cementing Super Veloce Legacy

The Lamborghini Miura SV, introduced in 1971 as the final evolution of the original Miura, celebrated its 55th anniversary in 2026. The model was the first to carry the "Super Veloce" (SV) badge, a designation that has become a hallmark of Lamborghini’s flagship V12 cars.

Key technical upgrades included a 3.9‑liter naturally aspirated V12 producing 385 hp and 388 Nm, a separate lubrication system for engine and gearbox that improved durability, a wider rear track, revised suspension, larger ventilated disc brakes and a cleaner front fascia with the signature eyelash headlights removed. Only about 150 units were built, making the Miura SV one of the rarest and most valuable classic Lamborghinis.

The SV name set a precedent for later models such as the Diablo SV, Murcielago LP 670‑4 SV and Aventador SV, reinforcing Lamborghini’s focus on extreme performance and engineering excellence. CEO Stefano Vinkelmann noted that the Super Veloce concept “continues to embody Lamborghini’s pure interpretation of performance.”
